We are Hutch, a mobile games developer & publisher with studios in central London, Dundee and Canada. Our mission is to build the most diverse and engaged automotive gaming community on mobile. Our games have been played by over 280 million people, with new titles in development.
Hutch are looking for a Junior Gameplay Programmer to join the team in our central London studio. You will be working on one of our successful games within a small cross‑functional team, collaborating with designers, artists and programmers to solve challenges in a fast‑paced and iterative environment.
Responsibilities
* Work on a variety of game‑programming tasks: gameplay, player controls, game simulation behaviours, AI, meta‑game behaviour, user interface, visual effects, audio effects, analytics hooks, and social features.
* Design and write maintainable code that is ready for post‑launch updates in response to customer feedback.
* Write tools where necessary to empower artists and designers.
* Be responsible for the game's performance, both frame‑rate and memory usage.
* Be actively involved in design discussions and prototyping.
Requirements
* Strong technical design and coding skills in either C# or C++ and knowledge of game‑relevant 3D maths.
* Experience with Unity, either commercially or significant personal projects.
* A passion or interest for making mobile games and exploring new ways within the free‑to‑play field.
* A proactive nature, with a desire to have a big impact and take ownership of work.
Bonus Points
* Previous mobile‑games experience, working within a commercially successful studio.
* Experience with agentic AI.
