Product Development Engineer - Chemical

This role provides a unique opportunity to work with the design of defence products and processes, as well as the chance to witness and conduct product trials. The role requires broad scope of fundamental engineering techniques with good variation of day-to-day activities and involvement across the whole product lifecycle.
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
Supporting product design and systems engineering activities for new and legacy products, including product design and evaluation using systems engineering tools (e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)).
Process design, definition and critical evaluation e.g. Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Process Control Plans (PCP) ensuring safety remains the highest priority in the working practices of yourself and the team.
Hands on development with energetic and other materials to support product design and development activity.
Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner, from creating Trial Plans, Risk and Safety Assessments through to trials execution and producing professional reports.
Application of effective Engineering Governance throughout the product development lifecycle supporting design reviews from concept to disposal.
Configuration and maintenance of Engineering Bills of Materials for products.
Support the generation of costed proposals for external customers.
Cross functional stakeholder management and collaborative working to support project and proposal delivery.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Proven record of supporting engineering teams and projects.
Strong Engineering skills: particularly the ability to identify issues, conduct technical analysis of causes and identify and present solutions.
Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent qualification or experience within chemical engineering or chemistry equivalent disciplines.
It is desirable for our engineering community to become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve relevant accreditation.
Desirable:
Current valid UK Security Clearance to SC level or higher.
Experience of product and process design.
Experience and knowledge of manufacturing in a high hazard environment.
A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design. xsngvjr
