Key Responsibilities
* Patrol the shop floor and deter criminal activity.
* Assess vulnerabilities and proactively minimise risk.
* Liaise with management and local authorities when required.
* Manage vulnerable persons with empathy and minimise distress.
* Complete colleague and contractor searches in line with customer policy.
* Digitally report incidents and use mobile devices for daily activity planning.
* Provide detailed and legible incident reports for the client and authorities.
Requirements
* Valid SIA Guarding or SIA Door Supervisor licence (current).
* Previous retail security experience is an advantage but not essential; full training will be provided.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with a calm and professional approach to conflict.
* Ability to provide a 5‑year checkable work or educational history.
* Right to work in the UK and recent proof of address.
Location & Working Hours
Location: Crawley, West Sussex, United Kingdom (RH11 9BA)
Hours: 46 hours per week (2‑week rolling rota)
Shift pattern: 13:15 – 21:15 on weekdays and Saturdays; 10:15 – 16:15 on Sundays.
Pay & Contract
Hourly Rate: £12.30
Contract: Permanent – full time

The Person
To be an effective Security Officer you will need to be a confident communicator, able to give detailed verbal and written accounts of incidents, welcoming and patient with customers, and capable of handling conflict in a calm and professional manner.
