Lineside Civils, Cabling, Trough Routes & Telecoms Role Summary A critical senior role within the central proposals and bid writing team. You will be responsible and accountable for the written proposal elements of high-value bids (EOI, MEQ, PQQ, ITT, PTC and post-tender queries), working closely with technical authors and senior stakeholders to ensure clarity, compliance and competitive positioning from strategy through submission and post-tender activity. You will strengthen bid quality, consistency and capability across the business and support continuous improvement of bid processes and content libraries. Key Responsibilities Be responsible and accountable for written proposal elements of bid activity (EOI, MEQ, PQQ, ITT, PTC), contributing to, managing and writing responses with technical leads and bid owners. Work closely with the Pre-Contract Director, Work Winning Director, Senior Pre-Contracts Manager, Pre-Contract Manager, Senior Proposals Manager, Proposals Manager, Bid Managers and other Directors and Managers to ensure written proposals meet the highest standards. Manage and complete prequalification and tender-stage written documentation with inputs from relevant business functions. Coordinate written proposals for client Expression of Interest and inquiry questionnaires; manage client clarification responses in a timely manner. Develop and produce answer plans for major bids to ensure client requirements, evaluation criteria and objectives are fully captured and addressed by the proposals strategy. Carry out detailed answer planning and provide writing support with nominated technical authors; translate complex technical and commercial information into clear client-facing narratives. Check tender information for completeness; review employer’s requirement documents and highlight discrepancies and required actions. Ensure Client TQs and tender addenda are reviewed and incorporated into written submissions. Produce, edit and maintain document templates and core assets including answer responses, CVs, organisation charts, case studies and project data sheets. Manage file structures, storage, printing and distribution to maintain governance and version control. Lead the written submissions and proposals workstream within the allocated bid team, coordinating contributors and ensuring timely delivery. Be proactively involved in review and editing processes to deliver high-quality, compliant submissions; attend and contribute to tender launch, interim and progress meetings. Attend prequalification, bid/tender and stakeholder meetings to identify submission requirements and secure necessary input from commercial, operations and technical teams. Work with joint venture partners and supply chain where required to develop integrated, compliant partner responses for major projects and frameworks. Monitor tender feedback and post-tender performance to identify improvements and implement changes to written content and process. Input into post-tender analysis and support business improvement initiatives alongside Pre-Contract and proposals leadership. Collate and curate best-in-class content on Workspace (or equivalent) to accelerate future bids and support AmcoGiffen marketing materials. Ensure all submissions comply with company policies, tender instructions, governance and procurement rules. Required Experience and Skills Significant experience as a Senior Bid Writer within construction, civil engineering or transport infrastructure. Track record of delivering high-quality, high-value bids and frameworks for clients such as Local Authorities, Network Rail, energy companies or equivalent. Strong commercial awareness and experience shaping commercial narratives, risk descriptions and compliant tender responses. Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to translate complex technical content into persuasive, client-focused narratives. Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional bid teams and mentor junior writers. Confident engaging and influencing senior stakeholders and external partners. Highly organised, decisive in prioritisation and able to deliver under tight deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office and bid management platforms; experience with content repositories/knowledge management systems. Degree-level education or equivalent industry experience.
