We are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a locum Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly therapy team at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York, on a 6-month fixed term contract from July 2024.
Woodlands is a specialist Level 2 neurorehabilitation facility, rated GOOD by the Care Quality Commission. Surrounded by mature woodlands, we support up to 26 patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury. We are part of the Active Care Group Neuro Network, focusing on clinical expertise, innovation, and technology to meet patients’ rehabilitation goals.
The interdisciplinary team, led by a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, provides high-quality neurological rehabilitation, assessments, behavioral management, and complex disability assessments for adults.

What you'll be working:
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, but we offer flexibility to support work-life balance.
What you'll be doing:
* Assess and manage communication and swallowing disorders
* Devise evidence-based therapy programs with multidisciplinary collaboration
* Maintain high standards of clinical care
* Perform named therapist duties and coordinate discharge
* Supervise and mentor junior staff and students
* Participate in training and audits
* Ensure compliance with regulations and safeguard patients
What you'll have:
* HCPC registration
* Experience in neurorehabilitation
* Experience with aphasia, cognitive communication, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia
* Specialist dysphagia competency
* Motivational skills and ability to work with long-term patients
* Enhanced DBS clearance
