Care & Custody is one of the leading providers of outsourced public services in the UK. We're looking for respectful, diligent and caring people to join our team of Detention Custody Officers (DCO) managing Europe’s largest Immigration Removal Centre located just outside Heathrow (UB7 0HB). We care for up to 1200 immigration residents, providing custody services, welfare, regime and recreational activity.
The Role
As a DCO, you will work with extraordinary courage and resilience to keep those in our care safe and secure, maintaining high standards of security and safety while promoting welfare and decency. The role offers a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment where no two days are the same. As you gain experience, you will have opportunities to grow and develop.
* Working hours: 40 hours per week – shift work covering days and nights, with flexibility to work a mix of short and long shifts.
* The centre operates 24/7/365. Your roster will cover 51 weeks with a rolling schedule.
Qualifications
You must be eligible to obtain CTC clearance, requiring: a valid UK or EU passport with Share Code, or ILR from a Commonwealth country; having lived and worked in the UK for 3 years with no extended trips overseas; no criminal conviction or ongoing police investigation.

* Communication skills to support colleagues and deliver exceptional service to residents.
* Previous experience dealing sensitively with agitated, confused, or angry individuals is an advantage.
Training & Assessment
Full training is provided on full pay. An Initial Training Course (ITC) of 5 weeks will run throughout 2025 and is paid. The first day of employment is the start of training, subject to full CTC clearance.
Assessment centres will be conducted face‑to‑face throughout 2025. Please note all offers of employment are subject to security clearance and enhanced background checks.
