We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lecturer in Plumbing to join the Construction & Building Services department. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing curriculum area, supporting learners to achieve their goals and progress into employment or further study.
Role Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver high‑quality teaching and ensure access to learning for all students, while undertaking associated tutorial duties. You will also contribute to course design, programme development, and the continued expansion of the Plumbing provision within the department.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
* Deliver high‑quality, engaging teaching across a range of Plumbing programmes
* Teach across varied timetables, including evenings, Saturdays, and summer periods where required
* Provide inclusive learning opportunities for students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds
* Deliver teaching and assessment in line with awarding body requirements
* Develop and maintain teaching resources including lesson materials, assignments, and assessments
* Prepare Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment
* Integrate Maths and English into vocational delivery
Assessment & Administration
* Undertake assessment, moderation, and verification activities
* Complete all administrative duties required for programme delivery
* Maintain accurate student records and documentation
Tutorial Responsibilities
* Act as a course tutor, supporting students in achieving their targets
* Monitor, track, and review student progress
* Provide regular feedback to students, parents/guardians, and employers
* Support and coordinate work placement opportunities
Student Recruitment & Promotion
* Assist with the recruitment and admission of new students
* Attend internal and external promotional events
* Contribute to the development of course publicity materials
Teamwork & Curriculum Development
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to course reviews
* Support curriculum development and new course initiatives
* Advise on resources required for effective programme delivery
* Liaise with awarding bodies, including External Verifiers and Moderators
Professional Development & Industry Engagement
* Maintain and develop industry links within the Plumbing sector
* Engage in continuous professional development and industry research
* Keep up to date with current practices to ensure teaching remains relevant and industry‑focused
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Relevant qualification in Plumbing or a related field
* Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
* Experience delivering vocational training or education (desirable)
* Strong knowledge of industry standards and practices
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* A passion for supporting learners to succeed
