Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service (TDTS) to deliver advice and support to inpatients to help them stop smoking and improve their quality of life. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with good interpersonal and communication skills to join our friendly, dynamic team.

Identifying inpatients who smoke through hospital systems and offering Tobacco Dependency Treatment advice using evidence based methods. Training will be available for the successful candidate. Travel to other sites will be necessary.

Main duties of the job

·Toworkwiththeonsite Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service (TDTS) andspecialiststoprovide advice,behaviouralsupport and treatment in relation to tobacco smoking.

·TosupportthedaytodayrunningoftheonsiteTDTStoensure safe, wellorganized and evidenced based careis offered routinely to allidentifiedsmokersandprovidedtoallthataccesstheservice.Providesupportin arange of settings asrequired forthedelivery of smoking cessation service.

·Tosupportthedeliveryoftheservicekey performanceandreporting indicatorsfortobacco dependency.

·Organiseownworkloadandworkunsupervisedinabusyteam.Maintainahighstandardofworkandprioritiseownworkloadaccordingtotheneedsoftheservice,individualneeds includingequality,diversityandsocialinclusioninallaspects of work.

·Takereferrals, includingself-referrals,intotheserviceandworkwithpatientstoidentify the most appropriatetobaccodependency treatment pathway.

1. GCSE in Maths and English (A-C/4-9) or Functional Skills (level 2)

Knowledge

2. Word processing skills including email, Microsoft office and excel.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, using interpreters as required.
5. Good interpersonal skills and confidence dealing with sensitive issues
6. Able to deliver factual information using reassurance, tact and empathy.
7. Evidence of previous team working.
8. An understanding of confidentiality and the ability to adhere to and implement Information Governance guidelines
9. Understanding of the drivers of ill health
