Production Engineer Production Engineer (with wn vehicle) required for a 3-6 months job (potentially longer) between 2 locations: Derbyshire and Chesterfield. Duties: Supporting the transition from ad hoc repair of TFL assets to dedicated work-streams for repeat repairs and overhaul. Monitor and optimise production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product quality. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Analyse production data and generate reports to identify trends and areas for improvement. Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimise downtime. Implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Train and support production staff on new processes and equipment. Pay rate is £20 23 / ph. paid weekly PLUS holiday pay. Must have: UK active clean driving license (up to 3-6 max points) and access to own vehicle essential Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. 2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment. (Production or Manufacturing or Process Engineer- industry dependent) Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety standards. Proficiency in CAD software and production planning tools (e.g., ERP systems). (Microsoft Project) Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Bring a practical approach to working collaboratively and 'hands-on' to assist with need of the project Preferred Qualifications: Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies. Familiarity with automation and robotics in manufacturing. Certification in PMP, Six Sigma, or similar is a plus. Working Conditions: Primarily based in an engineering workshop environment. May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on production schedules. Some travel to other engineering locations in support of TFL contract, specifically but not limited to Greenford (London) and Bristol. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
