Job Purpose
Psychotherapist responsible for managing a personal caseload of Eating Disorder clients, providing short- to medium-term therapies (5-20 sessions) under supervision and support from an MDT.
Responsibilities
* Attend and contribute to weekly organisational and multi‑disciplinary meetings as required.
* Work independently and as part of internal and external multidisciplinary health‑care teams.
* Adhere to EDS organisational policies, NHS and NICE/MEEDS guidelines and regulations.
* Provide supportive eating in the day‑service arm of the organisation, including meals and snacks with clients (usually once weekly).
* Assess new clients using semi‑structured interviews covering dietetic, psychological, behavioural and social aspects; complete comprehensive assessments and hand‑over findings to the director or team before deciding on treatment input.
* Participate in the risk assessment process by gathering and collating relevant information.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date organisational and clinical records within 24 hours via the in‑house IT system.
* Attend regular monthly supervision sessions with an in‑house supervisor to manage caseload effectively and safely.
* Liaise and report regularly with the director regarding potential or current problems with clients on caseload.
* Work with a capacity of up to four complex clients per day, including those with complex psychological and medical needs.
* Complete statutory and funded training: Level 2 Food Hygiene, NICE/MEEDS guideline‑recommended therapies for Eating Disorders.
Qualifications
* Diploma in Counselling (Level 4) or equivalent degree in psychotherapy.
* Higher level or degree in psychological or therapeutic training.
* Additional therapy qualifications preferably CBT/CBT‑e, Family Therapy (foundation or practitioner level) or another NICE‑guideline recommended therapy for eating disorders.
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years post‑therapy training experience in a mental health setting.
* Previous experience working with individuals with an eating disorder in a specialist setting.
* Experience conducting therapeutic group sessions.
* Experience with complex mental or psychological health issues such as EUPD, drug/alcohol dependency or trauma.
Other Requirements
* Disclosure and Barring Service check satisfactory to the service.
* Ability to manage own workload and keep accurate administrative records.
* Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and visitors in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
* Ability to work within organisational policies and regulations.
* Ability to contribute to multi‑disciplinary meetings.
* Ability to facilitate small group sessions.
* Adherence to BACP ethical framework.
* Previous experience of Microsoft Teams.
* Ability to accept constructive feedback and challenge differences in opinion in an honest and respectful manner.
* Self‑motive and adaptable, approachable and flexible to suit the needs of the service.
