Opportunity
We are recruiting for a part‑time (30 hours per week – flexible) and permanent Payroll and Pensions Coordinator for a business located in the Ulverston area. The company has a turnover of about £20 million and has been operating for almost 20 years. The ideal candidate will have recent payroll experience in a similar role and enjoy problem‑solving with excellent attention to detail and communication skills. Please note, this job is office based.
Salary and Benefits
* An hourly pay of £14.85 (negotiable)

New Role – Payroll and Pensions Coordinator
* Process weekly and salaried payrolls using timesheets, invoices and vehicle inspection sheets.
* Calculate correct amounts of pay, deductions, overtime, bonuses, commissions, sick absence and pension contributions.
* Process holiday and maternity entitlements, ensuring shift and overtime payments are accurate.
* Investigate and resolve all general payroll related queries, including discrepancies with timesheets, liaising with relevant managers.
* Maintain up‑to‑date pay‑rate records.
* Keep payroll systems and files current, and maintain accurate documentation.
* Drive continuous improvement, standardise processes and streamline where possible.
* Provide guidance, support and sound advice to managers and staff on full range of payroll enquiries.
* Build good working relationships with managers by supporting them in employment matters.
* Liaise regularly with the Finance Team to ensure they receive all relevant payroll information.
* Assist in the development and influence of new computer‑based systems.
Experience and Skills Required
* Working knowledge of up‑to‑date payroll legislation (essential).
* At least 2 years of previous payroll experience (essential).
* Experience with Sage50 (not essential).
* Intermediate MS Office skills (essential).
* High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality (essential).
* Ability to multi‑task with a high level of attention to detail (essential).
* Excellent communication and organisation skills (essential).
* A team player with a pro‑active approach (essential).
* Willingness to work flexibly and be responsive to wider team and business needs (essential).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deal confidently with employees, managers and external stakeholders (essential).
