Estimator Hamilton (Building Contractors) Ltd is one of the largest and longest-standing specialist façade contractors in the UK, working as both main contractor and subcontractor on a wide range of high-profile projects. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented and commercially aware Estimator to join our team during an exciting period of growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the tendering and costing of our façade projects, including EWI, recladding, refurbishment, and new build schemes. You will support the preparation of competitive and accurate bids, working closely with the commercial and design teams to help secure new projects and drive business success. You will be part of a collaborative estimating function, contributing to both sub-contract and main contract tenders, while developing your technical and commercial expertise within a supportive environment. Working from our Northern office in Baildon, West Yorkshire, you will also have the opportunity to attend site visits and engage with project teams across the UK. Key Responsibilities: ● Assist in preparing tenders, cost plans, and bills of quantities ● Review tender documentation including drawings, specifications, prelims, and site reports ● Take off quantities from drawings and technical information ● Source, analyse, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations ● Maintain pricing records and cost databases ● Provide budget cost estimates from early-stage or planning drawings ● Support the Senior Estimator in developing competitive bid submissions ● Review project information for accuracy and completeness ● Read and interpret technical drawings, working with design teams to improve solutions ● Liaise with architects and consultants to resolve RFIs during tender stage ● Attend site visits to inform pricing and project understanding ● Prepare draft clarifications, assumptions, and value engineering options ● Participate in internal tender review meetings ● Assist with framework bids and PQQ submissions ● Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company procedures ● Identify, monitor, and escalate commercial and project risks ● Support contract compliance, ensuring terms are understood and followed Essential Skills: ● Experience in estimating or commercial support within the construction industry ● Knowledge or experience of façade, cladding, or EWI projects ● Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications ● Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills ● Excellent attention to detail and time management ● Good IT skills (MS Office and estimating tools) ● Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach ● Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines Desirable Skills: ● Experience working on both main contract and subcontract tenders ● Familiarity with pricing software or cost management systems ● Understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes What we offer: ● Life insurance ● Generous holidays: 25 days bank holidays = work life balance! ● Flexible working ● Great environment: Our modern offices have been designed to encourage collaboration and efficiency If you thrive in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment and are committed to delivering accuracy and value, we want to hear from you.
