Salary: 12.21 per hour
Hours/Weeks: Up to 30 hours per week until 26 June 2026
Contract Type: Sessional - Hourly Paid
About the role: We are currently seeking a SEND Support Assistant to join our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities:
 * Student Support & Inclusion - Provide tailored support to students with SEND, enabling access to learning, promoting independence, and ensuring full participation in college life and the wider community.
 * Collaboration & Programme Delivery - Work as an active member of the Additional Learning Support team, assist in developing individual programmes, and support the assessment and progress of students.
 * Resource & Care Provision - Prepare and update learning resources, deliver personal and physical care (including administering medication after training), and maintain accurate records in line with college procedures.
 * Safeguarding & Compliance - Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and uphold equality, diversity, and health & safety standards.
 * Professional Development & Flexibility - Engage in ongoing training, adapt to varied duties as assigned, and contribute positively to the team's vibrant, student‑centred ethos.
About you:
 * Essential Qualifications & Knowledge - Educated to Level 2 in Maths and English, with a working knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
 * Relevant Experience - Experience supporting young people with SEND in educational or care settings, and proficient in using Microsoft Office applications.
 * Student‑Centred Skills - Ability to contribute to a high‑quality, welcoming learning environment, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively in person, writing, and by phone.
 * Professionalism & Teamwork - Demonstrates reliability, adaptability, and a positive attitude; works well independently and as part of a team, valuing colleagues' expertise.
