Job Overview
Essex Child and Family Wellbeing PB-19 Service is offering a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) course for passionate registered Nurses or Midwives. As a student you will learn from experienced professionals and gain practical experience in community health settings, assess and plan local health needs, and implement strategies to improve health outcomes. The role starts as a full‑time Band 5 student (paid at the mid‑point of Band 5), and after completing the 12‑month training you will qualify as a School Nurse, with the option to apply for Band 6 roles.
Job Responsibilities
The training is a 52‑week full‑time course (50% theory & 50% practice) delivered by Anglia Ruskin University (Chelmsford campus) and practical placements across Essex. You will gain theoretical knowledge for evidence‑based assessment, delivery and evaluation of care, including child protection, and will work with practice teachers, supervisors and assessors to link theory and practice.
Ideal Candidate
* Effective communication skills to support and empower families and young people, and to work alongside partner agencies.
* A flexible and reliable team player, able to prioritise and manage a busy workload in community settings.
* Current nursing/midwifery registration and/or a nursing/midwifery degree or diploma (minimum 120 Level 2 CAT points).
* At least 2 years post‑registration experience.
