A leading UK law firm is seeking a Senior Associate (4+ PQE) to join its well-established Commercial Property / Real Estate team in Edinburgh. The role offers the opportunity to work on market‑leading Scottish real estate transactions for a diverse client base, including UK and international investors, institutions, and funds.
This position involves a high level of responsibility, exposure to complex cross-border matters, and the chance to run transactions independently while working closely with partners and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advise on high-value sales and acquisitions of investment property across Scotland
2. Act for private equity, institutional and overseas investors on complex property transactions
3. Deliver asset management work, including lettings, lease re-gears, variations, and related documentation
4. Advise on retail, commercial, and mixed-use assets, including shopping centres and retail parks
5. Support the Scottish real estate aspects of corporate and share acquisitions
6. Act for lenders on real estate financing transactions across multiple sectors
7. Advise on student accommodation projects, including acquisition, disposal, management, and funding
8. Work on UK-wide and pan‑European portfolio acquisitions and disposals alongside English and US law firms
9. Draft and negotiate leases for office, industrial and retail properties, primarily acting for landlords and investors
10. Collaborate closely with banking, corporate, planning and construction teams
11. Support and mentor junior lawyers within the team
12. Contribute to client development and identify opportunities to grow relationships
13. Ensure efficient delivery of work through effective use of technology and best practice
