Role Overview
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Electronic Architect to join a high‑technology engineering organisation and play a key role in the development of advanced, precision electronic systems. Working within the electronic engineering function, you will contribute to research and development activities and help define future strategies and technology roadmaps for next‑generation electronic products and solutions.
Job Title: Electronic Architect
Salary: Approximately £70,000, dependent on experience
Locations: Multiple UK sites including the South East, South West, and North West (relocation support may be available)
Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid working, agreed at team level to balance business needs and individual effectiveness
Security Requirements: UK citizenship (or dual nationality including UK). Pre‑employment background checks will be required.
The Role
You will be responsible for defining the electronic and electrical architecture of complex equipment, performing system‑level analysis, and breaking down requirements into lower‑level specifications for subsystems and components. A core part of the role involves ensuring demanding customer requirements are achieved within tight physical constraints and challenging environmental conditions.
Working closely with the Engineering Project Manager, you will lead all technical aspects of electronic equipment delivery, ensuring solutions are provided on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with internal stakeholders and external customers. You will also be expected to demonstrate leadership, technical authority, and the ability to influence decisions. Proactivity, sound judgement, and adaptability in a fast‑moving and ambitious environment are critical to success.
What We’re Looking For
You will ideally be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an electronics‑related discipline, with substantial experience across several of the following areas:

Digital electronics and microprocessor‑based systems

Power electronics for distributed power architectures
*
Design of equipment for safety‑critical applications
*
Secure electronic design for handling sensitive data
*
Software and firmware development principles
*
Compact packaging and thermal management for high‑performance electronics
Experience or knowledge in any of the following would be advantageous:

System‑on‑Chip (SoC) technologies
*
RF and signal processing
*
Software‑defined radio
*
EMC compliance and environmental design
