Principal Consultant | Lenders Environmental & Social Advisory
We are seeking ambitious individuals to support the growth of our Lenders' Environmental and Social (E&S) Advisory business in the UKIMEA region. The role focuses on delivering E&S Advisory services for lender-financed infrastructure projects, predominantly across the UKIMEA region (UK, India, Middle East, and Africa) but also working globally across the Arup network. You will join an established and reputable team to manage the promotion and delivery of Lenders’ E&S commissions, including E&S due diligence, and Lenders’ monitoring assignments for internationally high-profile projects. This role is ideal for experienced team players with a passion for sustainability, strong communication and project management skills, and a desire to influence globally impactful projects.
Key responsibilities
* Managing the delivery of E&S advisory projects including engaging with E&S topic specialists to develop Gap Analysis Reports, E&S Impact Assessments, E&S Due Diligence Reports, E&S Action Plans, E&S Monitoring Reports etc.
* Undertaking short-term travel assignments to international sites to support the delivery of E&S advisory projects.
* Supporting business development and client engagement.
* Mentor and line manage junior colleagues, supporting their professional development and contributing to team growth.
* Driving innovation and thought leadership in sustainable infrastructure.
Is this role right for you?
We are interested in the following skills:
* Education to degree level, preferably a master’s degree
* Knowledge applying international E&S standards (e.g. IFC, World Bank, Equator Principles) or managing EHS on major construction projects.
* Strong background in ESIA, ESDD, EHS audits, incident investigations, environmental/social management systems etc.
* Project & client management: Proven ability to manage complex projects, proposals, and client relationships across disciplines.
* Experience in managing teams and mentoring junior staff, fostering high-quality project delivery and professional development.
* Chartered Environmentalist status, ISO/NEBOSH certifications. Foreign language skills. Knowledge in renewable energy, power or water-related projects, particularly in developing country contexts. (Desirable)
