Fire Door Technician Compliance & Building Safety

Salary: £27,000 per annum (depending on experience)
We are looking for a detail-oriented Fire Door Technician to join a dedicated estates and compliance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in building safety, compliance checks, or facilities maintenance who wants to play a key role in keeping buildings safe, compliant, and operational.
The Role
As a Fire Door Technician, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and compliance inspections across a large and varied estate. Youll focus on ensuring all fire doors and fire dampers are maintained to a safe and compliant standard, while also supporting the wider estates team when needed.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Fire Door Inspections Carrying out regular checks on fire doors, ensuring they close correctly, seals and hinges are intact, and doors comply with fire safety regulations.
* Fire Damper Inspections Testing and monitoring fire dampers across the estate to ensure correct operation in the event of a fire.
* Minor Remedial Works Completing small repairs where possible (e.g. adjusting closers, replacing seals or fittings) to keep doors and systems compliant.
* Escalation & Reporting Identifying and escalating any issues that require specialist attention via the CAFM system and helpdesk.
* Facilities Management System Using a tablet and CAFM software to log inspections, update maintenance records, and make recommendations.
* Team & Contractor Support Assisting the wider estates team with compliance checks, maintenance tasks, and supporting contractors when required.
* Health & Safety Following risk assessments and safe working practices, taking responsibility for your own safety and that of others.
This role is essential to ensuring fire safety compliance, protecting building users, and maintaining the estate to a high standard.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
* Experience in estates, maintenance, or facilities compliance (fire safety experience desirable).
* Knowledge of fire door standards or willingness to undertake training.
* A self-motivated, proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
* Good time management and organisational skills.
* An eye for detail and quality, particularly in relation to safety-critical assets.
* Ability to work as part of a team with a positive, can-do attitude.
* Basic IT skills and ideally experience using a CAFM system.
* Professional, helpful communication when dealing with staff, contractors, and the public.
Full training will be provided, so a willingness to learn is key.
