We are looking to hire a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 6-month interim contract. Reporting to the Head of Finance Operations, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial and management support, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of LSTM’s financial reporting and operations.
This position will focus on providing leadership across treasury and capital management, tax oversight, and financial control. You will also take a leading role in year-end financial statements, managing audit processes, and supporting a small team within Finance Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting: lead on or assist on relevant external reporting to key stakeholders and provide financial accounting technical advice as required, also assisting as relevant with providing information on funder or internal audits.
2. Treasury Management: Oversee day-to-day treasury operations, including cashflow forecasting, currency management, and hedging recommendations, while identifying opportunities to optimise investment returns.
3. Tax & Compliance: Support VAT returns, manage ad hoc tax projects, maintain the tax risk register, and liaise with HMRC and external advisers to ensure compliance across the organisation.
4. Capital Management: Oversee financial management and reporting of major capital projects, maintain the fixed asset register, and ensure robust monitoring and control in partnership with Estates and IT teams.
5. Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Manage and support the Finance Operations team, promote strong financial controls, and lead process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting quality across the function.
You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with proven experience in financial management, reporting, and audit preparation within a complex organisation. You’ll have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to lead and support teams, and a proactive approach to improving financial processes.
Experience with treasury management, tax, or capital accounting would be advantageous.
