Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Information Governance Officer to join our Information and Data Governance Team within the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department. This is a full-time, permanent role, working 37 hours per week. The salary ranges from £38,220 to £40,777 (Grade 6). The position is based at our Service Headquarters in Exeter, with options for home working or working from another Service location with manager approval. This role supports the Service in meeting statutory obligations related to compliance risk management. The Information Compliance team is part of the wider Information and Data Governance function within the Digital Data and Technology Department. Responsibilities include responding to information requests, investigating security events, assessing risks, and raising awareness about information governance.
Ideal candidates enjoy problem-solving, helping others, have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and confidence in decision-making regarding statutory and operational guidance.
The role can be largely performed from home or local Service premises, with mandatory attendance at a monthly team meeting at SHQ when required. Key responsibilities include:
* Managing information requests under the UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act, and Environmental Information Regulations
* Assessing information processing risks via Data Protection Impact Assessments
* Investigating security events, mitigating risks, and analyzing trends
* Delivering training and raising awareness of good IG practices
