About the Role
We are seeking a Security Cleared Structured Cabling Design / Infrastructure Architect with a strong focus on designing and documenting complex cabling solutions that underpin enterprise network deployments. This is a client-facing role that requires a proactive, technically astute professional able to translate customer requirements into scalable, standards-compliant cabling infrastructure solutions.
This role spans diverse environments — from small-scale tactical deployments to large new-build projects in demanding settings, including manufacturing facilities — and requires adherence to MOD, industry, and company-specific standards to include JSP 453 -Defence Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Installation Standard, JSP 440 – The Defence Manual of Security and SDIP-29 : 2006 – Facility Design Criteria and Installation of Equipment for the Processing of Classified Equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead client-facing meetings to understand, shape, and document detailed cabling requirements.
Conduct on-site surveys with clients, suppliers, and contractors across the UK and occasionally overseas.
Develop comprehensive Cabling Specification Documents that guide supplier installation and ensure compliance with Customer, MOD (as applicable), and Industry best practices.
Provide proactive oversight and technical support for nationwide cabling and infrastructure deployments.
Perform on going and post-installation QA checks and lead technical sign-off activities for production handover.
About You
You are an experienced infrastructure architect with:
Proven expertise in structured cabling design for enterprise networks.
Strong working knowledge of MOD/industry standards and best practices.
Exceptional documentation and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed (UK-wide, some overseas).
UKSV security clearance (mandatory – current or can be applied for).
Desirable Skills/Experience
Experience working in complex, secure, or manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with structured cabling products, standards (e.g., TIA/EIA), and testing protocols.
Prior experience collaborating with building contractors and technical suppliers.
