The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Trader to join our Fixed Income Centralised Trading Desk on a temporary basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent role. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in trade execution across a broad range of fixed income asset classes, including instruments denominated in both developed and emerging market currencies.
As a Junior Trader, you will support senior traders and portfolio managers in executing trades, monitoring markets, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the Centralised Trading Desk. You will also play a key role in helping to build and enhance trading tools and analytics, contributing to innovation across the desk.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the execution of trades across asset classes such as government bonds, credit, rates, and securitized products, ensuring best execution practices.
* Monitor market developments, economic indicators, and geopolitical events to support trading decisions.
* Collaborate with senior traders, portfolio managers, and analysts.
* Support the development and enhancement of trading tools and dashboards to improve execution, data analysis, and workflow efficiency.
* Maintain and update trading systems and tools to support efficient execution and data analysis.
* Contribute to ongoing efforts to improve trading processes, systems, and execution quality.
* Develop a strong understanding of portfolio strategies to better support investment objectives.
Skills & Qualifications
* Up to five years of experience in fixed income trading or a related role, preferably on the buy-side.
* Familiarity with trading platforms and order management systems is a plus (e.g., Bloomberg, MarketAxess, Tradeweb).
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a keen interest in financial markets.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills; able to work well in a collaborative team environment.
* Progress toward CFA designation is a plus.
* Proficiency in coding and data tools such as Python, SQL, and Power BI; experience building dashboards, automating workflows, or developing analytics tools is highly desirable.
