Job Title: EC&I Engineer

The Company
We are recruiting for an EC&I Engineer to join the central maintenance team of a leading COMAH site in West Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex plant, electrical distribution, and control systems in a highly regulated environment, playing a key part in site safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
As an EC&I Engineer, your duties will include:
* Working as part of the maintenance team to ensure the site operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and all relevant standards.
* Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
* Working on electrical distribution (415v 3-phase, 240v, 110v).
* Maintaining and fault-finding on PLC/DCS and hard-wired control systems.
* Proof testing of safety instrumented systems and critical alarms.
* Creating EC&I drawings (e.g., block cable diagrams, single line diagrams), technical specifications, and basis of design documents.
* Producing and reviewing documents such as risk registers, testing strategies, method statements, and technical files for new equipment.
* Participating in HAZOPs, design reviews, and supporting safety case development.
* Ensuring designs and systems comply with relevant standards, legislation, and project requirements, including functional safety.
* Checking the quality of design deliverables to ensure compliance with standards.
* Supporting commissioning activities, including site visits and occasional overnight stays.
* Identifying and resolving technical issues proactively.
* Maintaining site EC&I records through the CMMS system.
* Contributing to continuous improvement and sharing technical knowledge with colleagues.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need:
* Level 3 Electrical qualification and/or time-served apprenticeship.
* Training in BS7671 wiring regulations.
* Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations.
* IPAF certification (or willingness to complete).
* Strong PLC/DCS fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
* Knowledge of BS60079, BS EN 61508 or BS EN 61511 (advantageous).
* Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
