PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Early Careers Advisor role is crucial in shaping the future talent pipeline for AG. By focusing on the recruitment of London-based trainees, the role directly impacts the quality and diversity of the firm's next generation of lawyers. The advisor ensures that AG attracts, selects, and supports outstanding candidates who will contribute to the firm's continued success and reputation in the legal market.
This role is a 12-month role based in our new London headquarters.
THE TEAM
Our HR Group delivers the people strategy of the firm globally with talented individuals spread across our UK offices (London, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh) and internationally (Dubai and Dublin). The HR Group comprises of the Learning and Development, Reward & Benefits, HR Operations, HR Business Partnering, Early Careers and Responsible Business teams.
This role is within our Early Careers team, responsible for attraction, recruitment, development and retention of trainees, apprentices & business service graduates across all our offices. We are therefore instrumental to the continuing growth of one of the most respected law firms in our chosen markets & sectors.
You can expect to work cohesively with the wider HR teams, key stakeholders and partners within the business. The Early Careers Team is led by the Head of Early Careers with the support of a 2 Managers, 3 Senior Advisors, 3 Advisors, 1 Senior Co-Ordinator, 2 Assistants and 1 Apprentice.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
1. Assist the Early Careers Manager to execute strategy for early careers recruitment and marketing.
2. Support the implementation of the early careers marketing campaign across media brands and target universities.
3. Support with the execution of the early careers recruitment DE&I strategy
4. Work with the Manager to ensure a seamless service across London.
5. Manage and delegate effectively to junior members of the team.
Recruitment
Run the end-to-end recruitment process for London including:
6. With the support of the Early Careers Manager, run the application process for London and ensure process is conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
7. Work with Senior Advisors to plan assessment centre dates. Manage planning of assessment centres in London including sourcing assessors, booking candidates and full responsibility of running the assessment day/s.
8. Manage voice interview applications for London, including screening of interviews and managing candidates through the process.
9. Full responsibility for planning and running the placement schemes in the London office.
10. Support Early Careers Manager on internal training contract recruitment process for London including screening applications, running feedback calls and planning and running the assessment centre.
Marketing & DE&I
11. Support the Early Careers Manager to deliver the early careers marketing strategy internally to key groups including campus teams and team members.
12. Work closely with target universities to attract quality applicants.
13. Work with external brands to deliver firm's early careers DE&I targets for the year.
14. Work with networks and other stakeholders internally to drive the early careers DE&I agenda.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
To be successful in this role, you will have:
15. Experience in graduate or early careers recruitment, ideally within legal, professional services, or a related sector.
16. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
17. Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
18. Tenacity, resilience and patience when dealing with difficult and challenging issues.
19. Capable of delivering accurate and commercial advice and keeping employment law knowledge up to date.
20. Project management skills and experience - planning and organising multiple tasks/activities/projects to ensure that deadlines are achieved.
21. Must be highly organised, a good time manager and able to effectively juggle conflicting demands whilst maintaining a high attention to detail at all times.
22. Dynamic problem solving abilities; finding creative, commercial and pragmatic solutions.
23. The ability to work well and operate comfortably within a partnership structure / culture.
24. Trusted business advisor.
