The Role:
* My client is seeking a highly organised and dynamic Service Manager to lead their service operations from their Cardiff head office.
* This pivotal role involves managing a team of field-based service engineers and office-based administrative staff, ensuring the smooth delivery of maintenance, compliance, and customer service within the smoke ventilation sector.
* The successful candidate will be a confident leader with strong communication skills, technical understanding of smoke control systems, and a knack for operational efficiency.
* You’ll be the central hub between clients, engineers, and internal teams—making sure everything runs like clockwork.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of service engineers and office-based admin staff
* Coordinate service schedules, planned maintenance, and emergency call-outs
* Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., BS EN 12101, Approved Document B)
* Oversee customer service delivery and ensure timely resolution of issues
* Monitor KPIs, service performance, and client satisfaction
* Manage internal workflows, documentation, and reporting systems
* Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training initiatives
* Collaborate with other departments (e.g., installation, sales, finance) to ensure seamless operations
* Key contact for all service-related credit issues and responsible for addressing credit disputes in a timely manner to best support business results
* Maintain accurate records of service contracts, SLAs, and compliance documentation
* To prepare monthly trading forecasts / reports for the managing as required.
* To ensure all team members are compliant with Health and Safety working practices and encourage safe practice on site at all times.
Requirements:
* Experience in service management within the smoke ventilation, fire safety, or building services industry
* Strong leadership and team coordination skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
* Familiarity with smoke control systems and relevant regulations
* Proficient in-service management software and Microsoft Office Suite
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment
