Design & Technology Teacher – Secondary School in Southampton
Start Date: September Contract: Full‑Time | Long‑term with potential to go permanent Working Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm Pay: £165 – £250 per day (dependent on experience)
Position Overview
A growing and forward‑thinking secondary school in the Southampton area is seeking a committed Design & Technology Teacher to join their team from September. This full‑time role will run on a long‑term basis with the strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
You will primarily teach Resistant Materials up to KS4, while also delivering Art and some Textiles at KS3. The school has a modern, purpose‑built environment with excellent facilities, offering a supportive and ambitious culture where staff and students are encouraged to thrive.

What You Will Be Doing
* Teaching Resistant Materials up to KS4
* Delivering Art and Textiles at KS3
* Planning and delivering engaging, practical lessons that develop creativity, technical skills, and problem‑solving
* Contributing to a well‑sequenced DT curriculum
* Supporting students in workshop‑based learning including safe use of tools and materials
* Assessing and tracking progress in line with department expectations
* Promoting a positive, safe, and creative learning environment
What We’re Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards QTS
* Experience teaching DT, ideally with strength in Resistant Materials
* Confidence delivering Art/Textiles at KS3
* Strong subject knowledge and passion for practical, creative learning
* Confident behaviour management aligned with a school known for strong routines
* Ability to support students of varying abilities in both theory and practical work
* A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
