Offer description

Overview

The Community Cafe Volunteer role is about more than just serving refreshments; it’s about creating a warm, welcoming space that brings the Norris Green community together. Every Tuesday, the cafe opens its doors to a diverse group of local people ranging from babies to seniors, offering them companionship, comfort, and a safe place to connect. The role involves serving hot drinks, snacks, and occasionally hot meals, alongside providing a friendly ear and fostering a sense of belonging.

Volunteers are the heart of the cafe, working together to maintain a clean and inviting environment, following food hygiene and safeguarding practices. The cafe is part of the “Places of Welcome” network, which seeks to reduce loneliness and build community through inclusion and kindness. Feedback from guests highlights how the cafe helps them get out of their homes, make new friends, and enjoy social interaction in a supportive atmosphere.

This opportunity is ideal for anyone wanting to make a real difference in their local area by giving the gift of time and kindness. Volunteers receive support, training, and become part of a happy, close-knit team. The position also provides a chance to meet a variety of people from the community, from families with children to older adults, and to contribute to a valued neighborhood resource that combats isolation and nurtures connections.

Triple C manages the volunteer recruitment, training, and daily running of the cafe, working in partnership with Christ Church Norris Green and supported by local grants and donations. This role is flexible but vital in keeping the cafe operating week by week and deeply valued by all who visit.

Volunteering at the cafe is about making a positive social impact, building community spirit, and offering warmth and welcome to others in need of company.
