Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric (Healthcare Programme)

Overview
We’re supporting a UK healthcare provider on a major data transformation programme, focused on migrating a legacy on-premise data estate into a modern Microsoft Fabric platform.
This role is suited to a Senior Data Engineer or Data Platform Consultant who can operate across both legacy Microsoft stacks and modern cloud-based architectures, helping deliver a complex migration from end to end.
This is a hands-on role with strong influence over design, architecture, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead migration of legacy SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS environments into Microsoft Fabric
* Design and build scalable data solutions using Fabric, including Lakehouse, Pipelines and Dataflows Gen2
* Modernise ETL processes, transitioning from SSIS to Fabric or Azure-native pipelines
* Support transformation of reporting layers from SSRS into Power BI or Fabric
* Work closely with stakeholders across clinical, operational and technical teams
* Implement best practices across data modelling, ingestion and platform design
* Support knowledge transfer and capability uplift within the organisation
Required Experience
* Strong background in Microsoft on-prem data stack including SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS
* Proven experience delivering data migration or platform modernisation programmes
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, or strong Azure data platform experience with exposure to Fabric
* Strong SQL and data modelling capability
* Comfortable working in complex, stakeholder-heavy environments
Desirable Experience
* Experience working within healthcare, NHS or wider public sector environments
* Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Power BI
* Understanding of data governance, lineage and security
* Experience working in consultancy or project-based delivery environments
