The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP within Primary Care: Provide high quality medical care to patients registered with the practice. Provide a full range of services in line with the requirements of the GMS/PMS (17c) Contract and Enhanced Services Contracts. In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations including telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, dealing with queries, patient test results and own generated admin. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines. Refer patients as appropriate and in accordance with local guidelines and utilising advice and guidance. Provide appropriate health promotion advice to all patients. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation; Maintain good clinical records (manual/electronic) in line with good practice and in accordance with practice procedures including appropriate coding as agreed in the practice Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible); Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance. Ensure good clinical governance is part of patient care and other practice activities In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, GMC guidance or good medical practice Effective management of Long-Term Conditions Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required. Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process, commit to self-learning along with continuing personal professional development. Prepare and complete the re-validation process. This job description is not intended to be exhaustive. Other Responsibilities: In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to: Supporting the practice staff and responding to requests for advice and assistance from the practice reception, secretarial and nursing staff. Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF Assessment of the Practice. Participate in practice audits as requested by Clinical Leads.
