Early Days in Custody Clinical Lead – Practice Plus Group
Overview
Join practice plus group as an Early Days in Custody Clinical Lead at HMP Brixton, a category C prison located in London Borough of Lambeth. In this role you will provide highest standards of healthcare to patients without compromising on efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of healthcare practitioners, some in specialist roles, to deliver an effective safe medical service within the prison.
* Ensure patients have medical plans of care, assess patients and carry out relevant clinical investigations during their arrival, and arrange follow‑up appointments whilst providing advice and information.
* Clinically evaluate and ensure the safe transfer of patients to acute hospitals if needed, and ensure that plans of care are understood by the patient and the prison as appropriate. Demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinical decision making.
* Provide healthcare to patients on site in the healthcare unit and locations across the prison, including emergency care such as suturing and dressing, and performing a primary care function.
Requirements
* NMC Registered Nurse – Adult.
* Experience working with substance misuse patients.
* Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary, multi‑agency working.
* Knowledge of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards.
* Knowledge of audit and Datix.
* Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable but not essential.
Salary and Hours
Hours
Monday to Friday – 08:00‑16:00 or 09:00‑17:00.
Salary
Full‑time: up to £63,119 per annum, depending on experience.
