Main duties of the job
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Prosthetistto provide maternity cover for a 12-month period at our clinic in Billericay,Essex. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dedicatedmulti-disciplinary team, supporting patients with a wide range of prostheticneeds to improve mobility, independence, and quality of life.
The successful candidate will manage a diverseclinical caseload, contribute to service development, and providepatient-centred care of the highest standard.

Conductthorough assessments of patients' prosthetic needs through clinicalexamination, gait analysis, and evaluation of functional goals.
Measure,cast, fit, and deliver prostheses tailored to individual needs, ensuringoptimal biomechanical alignment, comfort, and durability.
Monitorand maintain the fit and mechanical performance of prostheses over time,addressing issues proactively to prevent complications.
Utiliseevidence-based clinical decision-making to support improved outcomes and meetcontractual and professional standards.MultidisciplinaryCollaboration
Workas a core member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing clinical expertisewhile respecting the contributions of other professionals.
Takethe lead in prescribing appropriate prosthetic interventions and communicateclearly with colleagues, patients, families, and carers.
Provideclear, concise instructions to technical staff for the manufacture ormodification of devices, ensuring safety, precision, and timeliness.
Participatein case discussions, joint clinics, and patient reviews with physiotherapists,occupational therapists, and other specialists.
Clinical Governance and QualityAssurance
Participatein clinical audit, outcomes tracking, incident reporting, and servicedevelopment projects as part of the clinical governance framework.
Maintainaccurate, timely, and comprehensive patient records, ensuring compliance withHCPC, GDPR, and Data Protection legislation.
Ensureall job sheets, stock records, and associated documentation are completed withclarity and accuracy to support invoicing and audit trails.
Contributeto service evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and innovation inclinical and operational practice.
ProfessionalDevelopment and Education
Engagein ongoing professional development, staying informed of new technologies,materials, and treatment protocols within prosthetics.
Supportand mentor prosthetic students and junior staff through supervision, clinicalteaching, and feedback.
Deliverformal teaching sessions and presentations to peers, allied healthprofessionals, or students to promote awareness of prosthetic practice.
Representthe organisation positively at conferences, workshops, or meetings, acting as aclinical ambassador when required.
Safeguarding and Patient Welfare
Adhereto all organisational safeguarding policies and procedures in relation tochildren, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Remainalert to signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and report concerns in atimely and appropriate manner, following local safeguarding pathways.
Ensurethat all prosthetic interventions are delivered in a safe, respectful, andnon-discriminatory environment.
Maintainup-to-date training in safeguarding legislation and practice, and contribute toa culture of vigilance, safety, and advocacy within the team.
Operationaland Contractual Compliance
Understandand deliver care in accordance with the specific contract model andservice-level agreements at each centre.
Assistin managing clinical operations, including deputising for the ProstheticManager when required, supporting scheduling, triage, and coordination of care.
Highlightopportunities for service improvement and participate in service reviews orcontract reporting as needed.
Ensureprofessional and organisational standards are met across all aspects of servicedelivery.
Health,Safety, and Ethical Conduct
Followall health and safety protocols within clinical and workshop settings,including safe handling of materials, tools, and patient equipment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics & Orthotics or an equivalent recognised qualification
* HCPC registration as a Prosthetist
* Experience working within an NHS or private clinical setting.
* Familiarity with a wide range of prosthetic componentry and technologies.
