Leeds City College are recruiting for a Teacher of Uniformed Public Services to join our team. This role is part time 14.8 hours (2 days), the actual pro rata salary for this role is £12,210 to £13,739 per annum.
Within the School of Public Services at Leeds City College we offer a range of study programmes across levels 1 to 3 to over 390 learners.
Our staff offer:
1. Bespoke training opportunities for our staff to further develop skills for career development including teacher training.
2. Opportunities to work in collaboration with our partners, West Yorkshire Police, Yorkshire Ambulance Services, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the armed forces.

Our curriculum offer includes:
4. Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3 Diplomas for entry to the uniformed services.
5. Level 1 Introduction to Community and Youth Services, a programme developed in partnership with CATCH, a leading third-sector organisation in the city.
6. Bespoke 19+ cohort of learners looking to gain qualifications to enable a career change.
7. In September 2025, we will launch our Preparation for Apprenticeship Programme.
What You Will Do
We are looking for someone with the passion and skills to deliver topics such as:
8. Prepare for a career in a chosen uniformed service
9. Land-Based/Water-Based Activities.
10. Uniformed services hierarchy and routine.
11. Understanding discipline in the uniformed services.
Core responsibilities include:
12. Develop learners to make positive progress towards their careers goals whilst developing skills and qualities that ensure they have successful outcomes.
13. Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, and learning and assessment plans.
14. Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
15. Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
16. Be responsible for recording student progress -Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
About You
You will have:
17. Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum.
18. A passion for subjects that include topics relating to emergency services and the armed forces.
19. Relevant up-to-date subject knowledge from working in the services or recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector.
20. Recent teaching delivery demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles in any setting.
21. Ability to be adaptable and flexible towards the requirements of different learner needs.
