Key Responsibilities

Workshop & Production Management

· Plan, schedule, and oversee all fit-out and assembly activities

· Oversight of the scheduling & planning of the service unit workload

· Supervise the installation of electrical, engineering and deck fit components

· Allocate work to technicians and ensure efficient resource utilisation

· Monitor progress against project timelines and budgets, reporting variances to management

· Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives

· Attend Management meetings to provide updates and/or feedback


People Management

· Lead, mentor and develop a team of marine electricians, engineers, deck fitters and apprentices

across both the fit-out and service areas.

· Conduct performance reviews, training and competency assessments

· Maintain high levels of motivation, safety awareness, and craftsmanship

· Track and validate project hours booked to relevant build or task code

· Client interaction and the ability to communicate with our client base


Quality & Standards

· Accountable to ensure all fit-out and servicing work meets required technical specifications,

drawings, quality and customer standards

· Responsible enforcing quality assurance (QA/QC) processes, inspections, and testing

· Maintain ISO 9001, marine, aerospace or relevant industry certifications and compliance standards

· Provide feedback to ensure technical drawings and documentation are kept updated


Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

· Enforce strict health and safety standards in the workshop, including PPE use and safe handling

· Conduct risk assessments, COSHH compliance, and toolbox talks

· Ensure a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment


Invoicing, Materials & Equipment

· Oversee inventory control of parts, materials and consumables

· Ensure workshop tools and equipment are maintained and serviceable

· Liaise with suppliers for procurement of raw materials and consumables

· Oversight of client invoicing for completed tasks or projects


Customer & Project Liaison

· Work closely with managers, technicians and clients to understand technical requirements

· Provide technical advice on processes when required

· Engage with clients to update on progress or confirm delivery timeframes

· Ensure projects are delivered to specifications, on time and within budget



Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

· Proven experience in workshop management or senior supervisory role

· Strong technical knowledge of boat manufacturing processes as well as commercial awareness of

potential clients

· Experience of Outboard and Inboard Marine Engines (Mercury, Yamaha, Mercruiser, Yanmar)

· Understanding engineering drawings, technical specifications, and tolerances

· Excellent leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills

· Excellent IT Skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & manufacturing software

· Strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency


Desirable:

· Experience in marine, automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications

· Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, or other industry quality standards

· Formal training in composites or engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent)

· Formal training in marine engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent)

· First Aid, Health & Safety, or supervisory qualifications

· Strong communicator, able to work across teams and with clients

· Commercially aware with an understanding of cost control and productivity


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· Weekly report of progress against plan, identifying any discrepancies

· Weekly report on staff utilisation

· Weekly report on billable hours vs total resource hours

· Tracking of job cards completed vs outstanding

· Compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards

· Efficiency of labour and material usage

· Team performance and retention. (This includes staff reviews and skills matrix input)

· Relevant quality stages QA/QC are captured and documented

· Customer satisfaction and repeat business


Working Hours

· Monday – Thursday: 07:00 – 16:30

· Friday: 07:00 – 13:00

· Flexible hours as required/ requested


Salary

· £50,000 salary
