Salary – £26,852 trainee to £35,791 competent
An exciting opportunity has risen to be part of the Fire Control Team for Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service.
We are advertising for the role of Firefighter Control working within the Fire Control Team for 6 months.
Applicants are also welcome from Control Firefighter’s who are already competent in role and may wish to transfer to Warwickshire from another Fire and Rescue Service.
About the Team
Based at our Headquarters in Leamington Spa, you’ll be joining our established team, working on a Watch Based flexible shift pattern, in a newly refurbished Fire Control facility.
We are currently upgrading our Command and Control system, having recently replaced our telephony system, so we can employ the latest technology available to provide an excellent service to the people of Warwickshire.

About the Role
As you’ll be the first point of contact to callers dialling 999 for Fire and Rescue, it’s important that you can deliver a high standard of customer care to manage customer and Service expectations.You will need to be resilient, offering guidance and advice to callers during emergency situations. You’ll need to be able to provide a high quality, professional service to customers by using clear communication, taking ownership of enquiries and finding solutions. You’ll need to be able to work dynamically in ahigh-pressuredsituation with strong resilience and good analytic/problem solving skills to support operational firefighting crews during the incident management phase.
Key Requirements
* Good listening skills; speaks and writes clearly and concisely, with good command of English.
* Provides a high quality, professional service to customers by using clear communication, taking ownership of enquiries and finding solutions.
* Able to input quickly and accurately details of an emergency call/incident message onto the IT System.
* Work co-operatively with others to be part of a team, as opposed to working separately or competitively.
* Manage personal effectiveness by managing emotions in the face of pressure, setbacks or when dealing with provocative situations.
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt an approach as the requirements of a situation changes and accept these changes.
