LHH is exclusively supporting a high-profile UK-based organisation in the recruitment of a Senior Commercial Contracts Lawyer. This is a rare opportunity to join a respected in-house legal team at the forefront of advanced research, innovation, and industrial collaboration.
The Opportunity
This role supports a nationally significant research and development centre, known for its partnerships with major players in the aerospace, defence, and energy sectors. You’ll be advising on complex commercial contracts that underpin cutting-edge innovation and technology development.
In addition to supporting the research centre, you’ll also contribute to a wider portfolio of legal work across the organisation, offering variety and intellectual challenge.
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including NDAs, R&D contracts, IPR licences, and construction-related contracts
* Advising on legal risk and contract structuring in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
* Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
* Supporting improvements to contract processes and delivering training
* Deputising for senior legal leadership as required
Candidate Profile
We’re looking for a commercially focused legal professional with:
* Significant experience in contract negotiation and commercial legal advice
* Strong understanding of English contract law
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* The ability to manage complex workloads and tight deadlines
* A pragmatic, people-focused approach to legal services
A practising certificate is not essential, but applications from qualified solicitors with in-house or private practice experience are welcomed. Experience in the defence sector and eligibility for security clearance (or willingness to undergo it) is advantageous.

* Salary: £60,000–£74,000
