Principal Ecologist – Stantec
Location: United Kingdom (UK-wide)
Stantec is thrilled to invite a highly motivated, passionate, and experienced Principal Ecologist to join our growing, supportive, and ambitious UK-wide Ecology team. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support existing partnerships with various water utilities, and pursue new opportunities within the water utility frameworks in the South East of the UK.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with teams from different disciplines and support the wider UK Ecology team.
* Shape the future of our ecological aspirations by conceiving ecological strategies and implementing best practices.
* Build and lead a team of talented ecologists, fostering a culture of innovation and scientific research.
* Expand our ecological presence by fostering new client relationships and leading excellence in the field of ecology.
* Manage complex ecological issues within project contexts, mentor staff, and engage with clients.
* Support bids and tenders to diversify the projects delivered by Stantec.
* Work autonomously while building a successful team aligned with your passion for ecology.
Qualifications
* Seasoned ecologist with extensive experience in professional consultancy and navigating complex ecological challenges.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and policy, including UKHab classification and the Defra Metric.
* Experience conducting comprehensive assessments such as PEAs, ECIAs, and ecological chapters, with HRA contributions.
* Wide understanding of terrestrial ecological issues, ideally backed by a protected species licence or a focused specialism.
* Proficiency in crafting compelling fee proposals and managing project budgets.
* Demonstrated experience in winning work and team development is a bonus.
* Passion for ecology and a strategic vision for ecological practice.
