Clinical Negligence Solicitor - Leeds
A leading UK law firm with a strong national presence is seeking an experienced Associate (4+ PQE) to join its specialist Public and Commercial Law team. This opportunity offers exposure to high-quality advisory work at the forefront of health and social care law, with flexible hybrid working and a supportive, close-knit team culture.
The team works primarily with NHS organisations and local authorities, advising on a range of complex, high-profile issues, including commissioning responsibilities, statutory duties, governance and public law compliance. The work is varied, intellectually engaging and genuinely impactful, contributing to effective and lawful decision-making in essential public services.
This is a unique opportunity for a Solicitor with public law or healthcare experience who is looking to develop their career in a growing, values-led firm. You'll work directly with senior clients on matters of national importance, while enjoying an inclusive and collaborative working environment with excellent opportunities for development and progression.
The Role:
As a Public Law Associate, you will advise on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues affecting public sector bodies, including:
* NHS commissioning duties, governance and decision-making
* Section 117 aftercare, Continuing Healthcare and Personal Health Budgets
* The Care Act and adult social care responsibilities
* Partnership arrangements and Section 75 agreements
* Primary care contracting and health system collaboration
* Public law considerations in health and social care integration
You will work alongside colleagues across departments, such as litigation and property, contributing to a multidisciplinary approach that strengthens client support. While the focus is advisory, there may be opportunities to assist on contractual and policy-related matters as required.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have:
* At least 4 years' PQE, ideally with a background in public law, healthcare law or working with local authorities
* Strong legal analysis and drafting skills, with the ability to apply complex legislation to practical scenarios
* Experience in providing clear, concise and commercial advice to public sector clients
* An interest in health and social care law and a commitment to supporting essential public services
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships
* A collaborative and proactive approach, with an interest in mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to team development
* Experience working across teams or managing multi-faceted projects involving different departments
* A keen interest in business development and client retention
