What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures. Your expertise will support submarine builds through:
* Design and analysis using Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards, employing FEA and classical calculation methods.
* Applying your knowledge of regulations that extend beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, and Weld Specifications.
* Interpreting data through advanced analytical techniques, including finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Supporting the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures.
* Producing concept drawings and technical outputs that meet contractual requirements, target dates, and budget demands.
* Checking and approving calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
* Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
* Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
* Strong background in mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
* Experience in a production or marine production environment.

The Production Engineering Department Team:
Join a dynamic team of designers and engineers in the Production Engineering Department. As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will:
* Conduct engineering assessments to support the build process.
* Collaborate closely with the design team to develop equipment.
* Provide operational and production support for safety-critical systems.
We also offer relocation support for all submarine roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
