Housing Benefit Project Lead (3–6 Month Contract) Location: Hybrid – 1 day per week in Birmingham Rate: Equivalent to £50,000 per annum (pro rata) Contract: Fixed Term Are you an expert in Housing Benefit for Supported Housing, ready to take on a focused project with real financial impact? We’re working with a dynamic housing provider undergoing a period of transformation, and they’re seeking an experienced Housing Benefit Project Lead to ensure all tenants are receiving their full entitlement and rental income is maximised. The Opportunity This role is all about outcomes. You’ll lead a targeted project to review, analyse, and correct tenant accounts that are in part-payment, ensuring eligible claims are brought to full Housing Benefit entitlement. Working closely with finance and housing teams, as well as local authority HB departments, you’ll be the driving force behind income recovery and financial assurance. What You’ll Be Doing * Leading a deep-dive review of part-payment accounts to secure full HB entitlement * Investigating and resolving complex HB shortfalls, suspensions, and appeals * Coordinating workload and priorities with the internal rental income team * Building strong relationships with local authorities and external landlords * Producing concise, data-driven reports showing progress and financial gains * Identifying process improvements to strengthen long-term income management About You We’re looking for someone with: * Proven experience in Specialised Supported Housing or a similar environment * Strong understanding of Housing Benefit regulations and enhanced eligibility criteria * A track record of resolving complex HB cases and maximising rental income * Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills * The confidence to lead, coordinate, and influence across teams Experience in rent setting, service charges, or social housing compliance would be an advantage.
