Planning Officer / Senior Planning Officer (Fixed Term for 9 months) - Career Grade Band 7/8 - £37,280 - £46,142

With issues as diverse as economic regeneration, housing need, coastal change, internationally protected habitats and flood risk, Great Yarmouth is the perfect place for a planner to start or develop their career and to get experience of unique and interesting planning challenges.
Now is an exciting time to join the planning department at Great Yarmouth Borough Council. The Council has recently become one of the first local authorities in the country to adopt a Borough-wide Design Code which is already helping to improve the quality of design in the area. A new Local Plan is under preparation and there will be an opportunity to contribute to this and help deliver it. Additionally, new modern planning software is on the horizon which will help streamline our processes and enable us to deliver high-quality customer service.
You will be based in our Development Management team helping to determine a wide-range of interesting planning applications.

About You
The role is a career-graded post and for this role and we are recruiting at the level of Planning Officer (Band 7) or Senior Planning Officer (Band 8). As a Planning Officer you will have had some experience working in planning (preferably in Development Management) and have a Masters (or equivalent) level degree accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute. At Senior Planning Officer level you will have Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute and have at least five years experience or significant demonstrable experience of working at a senior level.
