SEMH Teaching Assistant - Full Time
Location: Birkenhead, Wirral
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £122 - £125 per day
We are recruiting for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated and supportive team at a specialist SEMH school in Birkenhead, catering to a mixed cohort of primary and secondary pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEMH needs in both group and one-to-one settings
Work alongside teaching staff to implement tailored support plans
Promote a safe and positive learning environment
Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours effectively and professionally
Act as a positive role model, fostering trust and emotional resilience in pupils
Requirements:
Must hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
Able to provide 24 months' worth of employment references
Experience in one or more of the following backgrounds is desirable:
Care worker / support worker
Health care assistant
Sports coach
Ex-military / police service
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience
A genuine passion for working with children and young people with additional needs
