CAD/CAM Engineer / Programmer
Pay: Up to £18 per hour (depending on experience)
An established manufacturing business is currently seeking a motivated CAD/CAM Engineer / Programmer to support its CNC manufacturing operations. This role involves developing accurate and efficient CNC programs, models, and tooling strategies, working closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure parts are manufactured safely, on time, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
1. Create, develop, and optimise CAD models and CAM programs for CNC machining operations
2. Generate toolpaths, workholding strategies, and setup sheets for production
3. Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications
4. Support new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement activities
5. Collaborate with machinists and operators to prove out programs and resolve shop-floor issues
6. Select cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and machining strategies to maximise quality and efficiency
7. Maintain revision control of programs, models, and documentation
8. Contribute to cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and scrap reduction initiatives
9. Support root cause analysis for dimensional or quality issues
10. Ensure all work complies with company procedures and relevant industry standards
