Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Electricity Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking to power up your career? Join a dynamic team delivering critical infrastructure upgrades across the UK on high-profile National Grid projects. As a Mechanical Fitter you’ll: Install and assemble HV substation steelwork, disconnectors, circuit breakers, CTs, earth switches, and mechanical plant Fit busbars, support structures, cable trays, and earthing systems, including earth rods and exothermic welds Align and torque components to spec using calibrated tools Assist electrical teams with switchgear and transformer integration Work from drawings, method statements, and manufacturer instructions Conduct inspections to meet NGTS and project quality standards Support commissioning by ensuring mechanical readiness Maintain accurate records and comply with Electricity Safety Rules, HSE policies, CDM, LOLER, and PUWER regulations.What you’ll bring Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ L3 in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting / Maintenance (people with relevant experience in the field will also be considered) Competent in the installation of heavy mechanical equipment and structural components Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical and civil drawings Current CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport IPAF 3a & 3b Qualifications Full UK driving license – willingness to travel across sites EUSR National Grid Person & BESC (substations) accreditation – desirable Experience working on National Grid transmission or HV substation projects (typically 132kV, 275kV, 400kV) – desirableWhat’s in it for you?
