Job purpose
We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Joiner. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn the art of traditional joinery, including sash and case window restoration, under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the restoration, repair, and installation of timber sash and case windows
Learn to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
Support site preparation and clean-up
Attend college-based training as part of your Carpentry & Joinery qualification
Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service
Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Keep accurate records of work and training progress
As an apprentice joiner at Eco Sash & Case Edinburgh, you'll gain a rich set of skills rooted in traditional craftsmanship and sustainable building practices. You'll learn how to restore and repair timber sash and case windows using heritage techniques, master the safe and effective use of hand and power tools, and develop precision in measuring, cutting, and fitting bespoke joinery components. Over time, you'll become confident in glazing, draught-proofing, and installing ironmongery, all while working on historic properties that demand care and attention to detail. Beyond the technical, you'll also build strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities—essential for thriving in both workshop and on-site environments.
Essential Qualifications
National 4 or 5 in Maths and English (or equivalent)
Right to work in the UK
Willingness to attend college or training provider for SVQ/NVQ in Carpentry & Joinery
