Are you passionate about molecular biology and looking to apply your laboratory skills in a regulated, diagnostics-focused environment? Almac Diagnostics is seeking a DX CR Laboratory Scientist to join our team in Craigavon. This role plays a key part in supporting the efficient and high-quality operation of our Diagnostics laboratories, contributing to molecular biology testing and ensuring results are generated in line with regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform molecular biology techniques in line with approved methods and SOPs
* Carry out quality control checks on samples and methods throughout laboratory processing
* Assist with calibration, maintenance, and operation of automated and non-automated laboratory equipment
* Support ordering, tracking, and maintenance of laboratory reagents, consumables, equipment, and glassware
* Receive, log, store, and dispose of customer samples in accordance with defined procedures
* Monitor short- and long-term sample storage
* Prepare buffers and reagents for laboratory processes
* Generate laboratory data and ensure accuracy and completeness of associated documentation
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory
* Identify and document non-conformances, supporting corrective actions with minimal disruption
* Assist in the generation, review, and revision of SOPs and quality documentation
* Ensure all laboratory tasks are carried out in compliance with internal SOPs, the Quality Manual, and relevant standards including ISO 17025
* Operate across Almac Diagnostics sites when required
Essential Criteria
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences discipline
* Practical laboratory experience
* Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied and high-volume workload
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Desirable
* Experience with genomic and/or proteomic laboratory techniques
* Experience working in a clinical diagnostic laboratory environment
