Health, Safety and Environmental Lead/Manager
New Hythe, Kent
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer
Purpose and Scope

As the successful new applicant will be based at our new facility in New Hythe (Aylesford).
You will:
* Manage and monitor the health and safety management system and the continual improvement of health and safety across the company.
* Develop, implement and oversee the company's environmental management system ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
* Provide day-to-day support for managers and colleagues, ensuring policies and procedures are consistently applied in line with the principles of sensible risk management.
* Promote a culture where managing and being accountable for risk is recognised as an essential part of business as usual.
Health and Safety: What you will be doing
* Developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures ensuring the are regularly reviewed, update and communicated and adhered to.
* Interacting with relevant enforcement agencies as required.
* Developing and maintaining a comprehensive and innovative health and safety management system to meet the company's needs, business activities and objectives.
* Working alongside the management team to train, develop, support, encourage and embed a positive culture towards health and safety excellence.
* Supporting the management teams with the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and tasks and help to identify sensible and practical risk reduction measures.
* Carrying out periodic health and safety audits/inspections to ensure suitable and adequate safety systems are in place across the company.
* Ensuring accurate records are kept and maintained allowing effective reporting to enforcing authorities if required.
* Ensuring accidents are reported (internally and where applicable, externally) and supporting or leading on investigations as appropriate ensuring recommended improvements are implemented.
* Developing and delivering training to colleagues and work with the HR Manager in assessing training needs across the business.
* Leading the Health and Safety Working Group, team meetings and other groups as required.
* Managing contractors including the review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), monitoring via site visits, spot checks and lead audits.
Environmental: What you will be doing
* Ensuring the environmental management system is fully integrated into the company's operations and culture.
* Monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of the environmental management system making necessary adjustments where needed.
* Following all environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
* Keeping up to date with changes in environmental legislation and update the company policies and procedures accordingly.
* Conduct environmental impact assessments for new and existing operations.
* Identify potential environmental risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
* Developing and leading sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the company's environmental footprint.
* Developing and delivering environmental training programs for all employees at all levels.
* Reporting performance indicators into the Executive Management Team.

Requirements for the Role
Qualifications and experience
· NEBOSH Diploma or NEBOSH Certificate.
· Member of a professional body (i.e. IOSH).
· Proven experience working in a in Health and Safety in a lead role and experience in
environmental management.
· Experience working within a manufacturing environment and conducting audits.
· Training experience.
· Pro-active team player with confidence to work on own initiative.
· Ability to work in and adapt rapidly to a changing environment.
Knowledge and technical skills
· In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation as well as environmental legislation and standards.
· Experience of writing, implementing and revising policies and procedures.
· Experience of identifying sensible and practical risk reduction measures
Other requirements
· Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
· Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
· Strong IT skills.
· The ability to influence.
· Comfortable working with colleagues across all levels of the business.
· Appetite for learning and expanding existing skill set.
· A drive to deliver an excellent customer service to colleagues.
