Location: Wickford (full‑time, office‑based)
Contract Type: Permanent
Industry: Construction & Railway Maintenance (major contracts)
About the Role
We're recruiting a PPM Planner for a leading Construction and Railway maintenance contractor delivering planned works across major London contracts. You'll own the end‑to‑end planning of planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities-building efficient schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and contractual KPIs.
This is a critical, office‑based role in Wickford, working closely with Operations, Engineering, Commercial, and Client stakeholders to keep assets safe, available, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
PPM Scheduling & Coordination
* Build and maintain weekly/monthly/annual PPM schedules in the CMMS/ERP (e.g., Maximo, SAP, CAFM).
* Sequence work to minimise operational disruption; align plans with access windows and possession regimes.
* Allocate labour, plant, and materials; issue work packs and permits.
Work Control & Readiness
* Create job plans, task lists, RAMS, and method statements aligned to TfL standards.
* Ensure prerequisite documents, access permissions, and logistics are in place ahead of execution.
* Monitor work status and re‑plan in response to emergent issues or client priorities.
Performance, Compliance & Reporting
* Track delivery against KPIs (on‑time completion, first‑time fix, asset availability, backlog).
* Maintain auditable records; produce daily/weekly reports and look‑ahead plans.
* Support audits and evidence compliance with safety, quality, and contractual obligations.
Stakeholder & Client Interface
* Liaise with supervisors, engineers, commercial teams, and client representatives.
* Coordinate with Stores/Procurement for materials readiness and lead times.
* Chair/participate in planning meetings and handovers; action follow‑ups promptly.
Continuous Improvement
* Analyse failure patterns and maintenance history to optimise task frequencies and scopes.
* Propose improvements to planning processes, standard job plans, and data quality in the CMMS.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Planner/Work Scheduler in rail, infrastructure, or building services-ideally within TfL or London‑based service environments.
* Strong CMMS/CAFM proficiency (e.g., Maximo, SAP, CAFM systems) and confident using Excel/Office 365.
* Understanding of PPM methodologies, asset hierarchies, and maintenance standards.
* Knowledge of RAMS, permits, safe systems of work, and industry H&S frameworks (e.g., CDM, LOLER, PUWER, Working at Height).
* Excellent coordination and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
* Comfortable interpreting drawings, O&M manuals, task lists, and technical instructions.
* Desirable: Experience with possession planning/access regimes; familiarity with TfL standards; IOSH/NEBOSH/PTS or equivalent tickets.
Qualifications
* Relevant technical or engineering background (NVQ/ONC/HNC or equivalent preferred).
* H&S certification (IOSH Managing Safely or similar) advantageous.
* Right to work in the UK. (Security vetting/medical may be required depending on contract/site access.)
