We have an exciting opportunity in our Theatre Department and are recruiting a Recovery Practitioner to join our team. You should be patient-centred, enthusiastic and highly motivated. We offer a supportive and adaptable supernumerary period and development opportunities through our Practice Development Team.
Our Main Theatre at Worthing Hospital comprises nine theatres and a Recovery Unit, including a dedicated obstetric theatre; we also cover ophthalmic theatres and day case theatres at Southlands Hospital. You may be asked to work at times in these locations.
Main duties of the job
* Provide care and emotional support to all patients
* Assist the anaesthetist in PACU as required
* Maintain knowledge and ability to use all equipment in recovery
* Promote safe and effective practice across all areas
* Work with a high level of autonomy, including during out-of-hours
* Support other members of the theatre/PACU team
* Provide skilled care for postoperative patients in the recovery area (PACU)
* Comply with policies on: Infection Control, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Confidentiality, Information Governance, NatSSips and LocSSips

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are a busy department providing peri-operative services five days a week with weekend and out-of-hours care for emergencies such as caesarean sections. Our team includes ODPs and Nurses who support students and ongoing professional development. The recovery team collaborates closely to adapt to different situations and support career development.
The successful candidate will work within the recovery team to ensure patient safety in the PACU and will need good communication skills and a commitment to high standards of patient care. The full Job Description is available under Supporting Documents.
This role requires shift work including weekends and on-calls. Visa sponsorship is available under UKVI Skilled Worker route where eligibility criteria are met.

Qualifications / Experience
* Current NMC UK/HCPC Registration
* RGN 1st Level or Registered ODP (C&G 1752/NVQ Level III/Diploma)
* Educated to Diploma/Degree level or equivalent
* Confidence to liaise with multi-professional team
* Evidence of development to improve equalities issues and patient-centred approach
* Initiative and commitment to high clinical standards
* Ability to perform patient and equipment manual handling
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Good customer care, planning, prioritising and organisational skills
* Computer skills (Word, Excel, email, internet)
* Previous experience in an Operating Department setting
* Mentorship/PSPA qualification or willingness to work towards
