Overview
The School of Performance, Music and Media are looking for a talented individual to join their dynamic team. You will have strong skills in Musical Theatre, with a focus on musical direction and singing technique. An ability to read sheet music, sight-read and play piano to a high standard is a necessity. Teaching experience of delivering music theory and ensemble vocals is also essential.
Responsibilities
* Deliver music teaching including music theory and ensemble vocals.
* Read sheet music, sight-read and play piano to a high standard.
* Rehearse and perform instrumental parts in musical works; work with and lead other musicians.
* Break down a full musical theatre score and teach its constituent parts to students.
* Demonstrate excellence in personal tutoring, including target setting, lesson planning, delivery and assessment; promote learners’ progress by embedding English, Maths and transferable skills.
* Support with evening performances and external events during busy show periods.
* Contribute to courses delivered by tutors with industry knowledge and employer partnerships to develop students’ skills.
Qualifications and requirements
* Strong skills in Musical Theatre with a focus on musical direction and singing technique.
* Ability to read music, sight-read, and high-standard piano playing.
* Teaching experience in music theory and ensemble vocals.
* Experience in rehearsing and performing instrumental parts and leading other musicians is desirable.
* Ability to break down scores and teach their parts to students.
* A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential; training to achieve qualification will be provided.
Employment details
This role is hourly paid for approximately 12 hours per week based at our Watford Campus. The successful candidate will put Teaching, Learning, Assessment and student progress at the forefront.
