As a Contracts Specialist, you will be a key member of the Legal Function, providing internal legal support on a wide range of commercial contracts matters.
Your day-to-day focus will be on supporting our commercial contracting activities, including conducting contract reviews, draftingcontractsand taking part in negotiations. You may alsobe requiredtoprovidead-hoc advice on related legal matters withappropriate supportand to provide contracts training to our commercial teams.
You will be joining a large, friendly in-house team, with lots of support. You will work closely with other in-house lawyers across all Thermo Fisher businesses and various other functions such as R&D, Product Development, Commercial Licensing and Sales teams,IPand Procurement. We pride ourselves on providing excellent training resources and opportunities to all our Contracts Specialists.
This is a permanentcontractand the role is fully remote.
What will you do?
1. Review,draftand negotiate various commercial agreements.
2. Support and, whereappropriate, lead negotiations with third parties and/or customers on these agreements.
3. Take an active role in the Team’s contract template standardisation, processimprovementand contract automation strategy byparticipatingin and/or leading certain relevant Team projects.
4. Consult with other parts of the organisation on the interpretation of agreements in effect or in development.
5. Educate and train employees on their role in contract negotiations and their obligations under the terms of various contracts and under applicable legal requirements.
6. Work with other members of the Global Legal team including Division Counsel as needed.
Who we are looking for: experience, skills &abilities
7. Holds a law degree in a UKjurisdictionor has some experience in a contracts-focused role. A good working knowledge of contract law.
8. Relevant experience in contract negotiation/drafting.
9. Strong commercial awareness and business sense, with ability to navigate the various issues surrounding contracts,technologyand corporate structure.
10. Able to fully engage with and influence business partners.
11. Fluency in English essential.
12. Able to deal effectively and efficiently with a high-volume workload.
